Vectary Dashboard
The Vectary Dashboard allows you to organize and manage your projects, start new ones and edit existing by selecting and double-clicking to open the Vectary Studio Editor.
The dashboard is the first area you see when registering as a new user and after each login. Place your projects in Workspaces, and add folders to each. Work on your own across all Workspaces, or add other people to collaborate with, selecting a viewer or editor role for each. Start with the square ‘gems’ in the upper left-hand corner, and continue clockwise:
The Vectary Dashboard allows you to:
- Start new projects, which will bring up Vectary Studio
- Organize your projects by moving them into folders, duplicating, deleting, and other options
- Change the cover image of a project
- Rename your project
- Add a description, make notes or let others know more about your project
- Adding tags will improve the Search function
- Identify which projects are shared or projects created in Vectary 3.0
Dashboard walkthrough
Square avatars
The squares represent all the Workspaces that you can access through your dashboard. Adjust the abstract, square graphic to a custom image. You can tell which workspace is currently displayed by a purple bar next to the workspace gem avatar square. Left-click once to switch between the workspaces. Use the plus (+) sign at the bottom to add additional workspaces to your dashboard. Please note that each new user starts with one free Starter Workspace, that can store 25 projects. To add additional workspaces or upgrade your starter workspace, have a look at the options on the pricing page: Vectary - Pricing
Name of the workspace
The name of the currently selected workspace is in bold text. You can change the name at any time. The workspace category will be displayed underneath: free ‘Starter Workspace’ or the paid subscription ‘Pro Workspace’. This may also be ‘Enterprise’ for advanced business users.
Dashboard menu
Just below the name and type of workspace, there is the ‘Home’ button, that will show all the projects that are contained in the top level of the current workspace. They are shown to the right as image thumbnails. The second option is the ‘Archived’, a spot where you may retire projects or permanently delete them. After a list of folders, you can find the ‘New Folder’ button. You can then drag and drop projects from the main area of the workspace, and click each folder to display a list of projects contained within.
Dashboard options menu
Just to the right of the workspace name is a cog icon. Clicking this will show you the workspace options menu.
Dashboard search
Further down, the search bar allows you to search through your projects. It is responsive to project names and the tags assigned to individual projects later.
Workspace users
In the upper right-hand corner of the screen you will see a number that represents the total number of active users present on this workspace (yourself, viewers, and editors combined), and your own custom picture, that opens your account settings.
Help and Contact menu
Access the Help and Contact menu by clicking the question mark icon in the lower left-hand corner. The links available in the Help and Contact menu goes to:
- Vectary User Community
- Top of this user Documentation
- Contact page of the Vectary homepage
Creating and editing Vectary projects in the Dashboard
Starting a new project
To start a new project, click the first rectangle in any of your workspaces labeled ‘+ New Project’. This will open up the Vectary Studio editor.
To use the older version of Vectary Studio, hover over the ‘Home’ button in the current workspace and click on the three dot menu:
Project Settings
To access the project settings, click on the three-dot menu in the corner. A project options menu will pop up, showing: Edit Info Upload Cover, Copy Link, Duplicate and Delete.
‘Edit Info’ will show the Project Info dialog containing: the project image, the project name, the workspace it belongs to, and the ‘last modified’ timestamp. Click the round plus button to add new tags. Customizing tags will help you and others to find projects by using the search bar at the top of the dashboard. Use the button ‘Open In Studio’ to go to directly to the editor mode.
‘Upload Cover’ allows you to set a custom image for the project thumbnail - select an image with a rectangular aspect ratio for best results.
‘Copy Link’ will copy a direct link of the project to your operating system’s clipboard. This link will open the project in Vectary Studio for direct editing. It is only accessible by you or members of the same workspace.
’Duplicate’ will create a copy of the project within the same workspace.
Dashboard - the user panel
The user panel allows you to:
- See your basic user information such as username, profile picture, email, etc.
- Change the profile picture
- Change your username
- Alter the e-mail account associated with your Vectary Platform
- Access and generate Tokens
- Toggle Newsletter Subscription
Dashboard - the user panel settings
In the dashboard, go to the upper right-hand corner of the screen and click the icon with your profile picture.
The user panel will show the profile picture, the username, e-mail, Access Tokens connected to external apps, and the newsletter subscription option toggle. There is an additional pop-up that can be accessed by using the three-dots icon in the upper right-hand corner of the dialog.
The three-dots icon will open a sub-menu. Choose to sign out, change your profile avatar image, change your username, copy your User ID (useful for Vectary Technical Support and for getting invited to shared Workspaces), change the Email associated with the account, Change your Password, or even Delete the Account.
To add an Access Token, if you require one to connect to other apps, such as Figma - when using the Vectary Elements plugin: click the plus button in the ‘Access Tokens’ line.
A new Access Token will appear. It can be copied to clipboard with the button which appears right after the token number, as the token had been copied to your clipboard. You may also remove the token at any time by clicking the minus button next to it.
Workspace settings
The workspace settings allow you to:
- Change the name of your workspace
- Change the cover image, which is represented by the square gem avatar
- See the type of workspace you have
- Access additional settings
- See the Members of the workspace and add new ones or remove existing seats. You can also identify the owner of the workspace.
- See payment settings in the Billing tab
Workspaces functionality
Clicking the mechanical cog icon to the right of the workspace name will bring up the Workspace settings dialog. From here you can clearly see the workspace cover image square gem, the workspace name in bold text, and the type of workspace that you have right below it. (Either Starter workspace, Pro Workspace, or Enterprise / Custom).
You can see the Members of the workspace in the ‘Members’ tab and their profile picture, username, and role (owner, editor or viewer). You can add new members by clicking the plus at the bottom of the dialog.
To rename your workspace, simply double click the name in bold at the top and type or paste in a new name. Press enter or click anywhere else in the dialog to accept the changes.
Clicking the three dots menu in the upper right-hand corner of the workspace settings dialog will show a pop-up window, where you can change the cover image, change the workspace name, contact sales (this will redirect to the Vectary website contact section) or if you wish - delete the current workspace.
Organizing your projects and workspaces
Organize your Vectary projects by:
- Create folders in workspaces (one level only). You can drag and drop projects inside or create new projects
- Rename folders
- Switch between workspaces and add new ones
- Select more than one project at a time by left-clicking once across all the projects you wish to include in your selection. Click anywhere else in the dashboard area to deselect
Switching between workspaces and adding new ones
In this representative example of a Vectary Dashboard note the following: We can see there are a total of six workspaces in this user’s account, and the first one on the list has a custom image uploaded. The others have the default curve gradient image avatar. The currently selected Workspace will have a vertical bar next to its square gem icon.
We have actually selected one of the two greyscale workspaces from the bottom of the list. Greyscale-colored workspaces are locked, which means you need to upgrade your account to have full access to them. This will also be indicated by ‘LOCKED workspace’ type identifier under the workspace name.
Click the plus button to add another workspace.
The new workspace creation dialog will appear. You can change the name by clicking on the text in bold.
You may also add a custom cover image for the square workspace avatar gem by clicking the icon. This will open your operating system’s file manager so you can navigate your folders and find the file you wish to use.
Finally, click ‘Create Workspace’ to add it to your list. Remember, you will need to then upgrade your account to add additional subscription levels for more Pro Workspaces. Free users can only have one Starter Workspace. For additional info, have a look at the Pricing Page on the Vectary website: Vectary - Pricing
Adding folders in workspaces
From your Vectary Dashboard, select the workspace you wish to work with and click. The workspace gem will display a vertical bar next to it, indicating it is currently selected.
Find the ‘ + New Folder ‘ button and click once. A new folder is created. Name the folder. The default naming scheme is ‘Folder 1’, ‘Folder 2’, ‘Folder 3’, etc.
When hovering over an existing folder, a three-dot menu appears. Clicking it will bring up the Folder Options menu. This allows you to create a new project using Vectary Studio right within the folder, or use the legacy version of Studio 3.0 (2020) which is available for a limited time still. You can rename or delete any folders.
Inviting people into the workspace
An invitation allows you to add other members to your workspace so that they have access to your projects. Access can be presented for viewing or editing (changeable at any time).
The video below shows the process of adding a new member:
The new member will see all the projects of the workspace to which you have added him. He will not see other workspaces. Any project can be locked so that other members of the space cannot edit it, even if they have editor rights:
